2 września 2024 roku w Łękawce (woj. małopolskie) mężczyzna ścinał drzewo. Prowadził prace w uprzęży z asekuracją na wysokości około 12 metrów nad ziemią. W pewnym momencie, około godziny 17:00 współpracownicy zauważyli, że pilarz stracił przytomność.
Niestety, ratunek okazał się bardzo utrudniony ze względu na wysokość i trudności z dojazdem do drzewa. Nie dało się dosięgnąć poszkodowanego drabiną wozu strażąckiego, więc wezwano ratowników wysokościowych. Niestety, po przetransportowaniu pilarza na dół okazało się, że zmarł.
Na miejscu pracowali strażacy z PSP w Tarnowie, OSP Łękawka i OSP Koszyce Małe.
